  3. Hello Director Hattori,
I am glad to find your website. I am working on a transcription of Tadashi Hattori’s “A Maiden on the Shore.” It is an arrangement by Maestro Rudy Cipolla. I have questions that I need answered. 1. When Hattori visited the San Francisco Bay Area (Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz) in 1964 and 1967, do you know what the titles were on the concert programs? Can you provide me with the concert programs? perhaps you can provide me with Hattori’s list of titles?
    2. Do you know who published Hattori’s music in Japan? Was any of his music published in the United States? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you, Sheri Mignano Crawford

    1. Dear Sheri Mignano Crawford,

      Thank you for your question.
I can’t speak English well enough. I will use the translation application to answer as much as possible.
In 1964, there was a concert tour to the United States sponsored by the All Japan Mandolin Federation, and at that time we gave concerts in San Francisco, San Jose, and Berkeley, etc. At that time, the orchestra was made up of members of the famous university mandolin ensemble in Japan, but in 1967, an orchestra consisting only of Keio University’s mandolin club, which Tadashi Hattori graduated from, visited California.
In 1967, he visited San Francisco, San Jose, Monterey, Modesto, Sacramento, etc. and gave concerts.
There was no special title for the concert, and it was a concert of a Japanese university mandolin ensemble.
I’m sorry there are no records of the program numbers that have been played.

There have been several publications of Tadashi Hattori’s mandolin works in the past, but few remain today. I still have some handwritten notes. Also, I remember that there was no publication in the United States in the past.

If you have any other questions, I will do my best to answer them.

      Ken Hattori
